Millennium Awards was founded in 1999 by Zoe Prieto. Zoe was a volunteer worker in the Dade County Public Schools for approximately 20 years. She took it upon herself to reassure the children that they could do anything they set out to do.
She was involved with the “Oyentes Program” (Listeners Program), the “I Can Read!” program and held different positions in the PTA board at her children’s schools. Her goal was to make sure every year there was enough money raised for school awards at the end of the year.
Zoe made sure there were no children left unrecognized for their achievement efforts. When her own children had completed most of their education, she was inspired to continue the work. She stayed involved motivating and giving hope to incoming students so they too would continue their education by recognizing their achievements with awards.
